在20世纪90年代中期我国陆军狼牙特战基地。大队长（侯勇 饰）向孤狼特别突击队员交代一项任务，是收回坠落在我国边境上的一枚卫星残骸。在我边境内孤狼队员们和寻找我国卫星的境外敌人交上了火，无奈境外敌军退出我国境内。孤狼们很快找到了卫星残骸，不料境外敌军也随后跟来，这时还是联络不上狼穴，猎鹰(吴京 饰）)击中一名敌军阻击手，天雷（周慧林 饰）跑去查看，假死的敌人炸伤了天雷的腿，猎鹰为了掩护天雷被敌军射中应声倒下。 十几年后，猎鹰何卫东的儿子何晨光(吴京 饰）作为一名全国青少年武术冠军继承父业参军入伍。和他一起入伍的还有跟自己不打不相识的街头混混王艳兵（徐佳 饰），朴实的农村小伙李二牛（赵荀 饰）。3人经过重重考验变成了名列前茅的好兄弟，但是要成为优秀的特种兵，前方的路还很长。。The pathologists investigate when a military helicopter crashes into a refugee detention center.
