讲述了由盛一伦饰演的顾彦城在剧中意外相遇了与自家家族流传下来的《仙女腾天图》中长相相似的女子荀羽萱（王莫涵饰），从而展开了一番斗智斗勇相爱相杀的爱情故事。。瓦达（安娜·克拉姆斯基 Anna Chlumsky 饰）的母亲在她很小的时候就离开了她，但在内心里，瓦达非常崇拜自己的母亲。一天，学校的老师给同学们布置了一片论文，让大家写一写自己尊敬的人，瓦达决定写自己的母亲。但是很快瓦达就发现，自己对于母亲的了解实在是太少了，不足以成文，于是，她决定前往洛杉矶去找舅舅菲尔（理查德·马苏尔 Richard Masur 饰），向他讨教母亲的生平。 在洛杉矶，瓦达结识了了自己的堂哥尼克（奥斯汀·奥布莱恩 Austin O'Brien 饰），照顾瓦达的任务就落在了尼克的身上。虽然尼克对这个腾空出世的妹妹感到非常的头疼，但渐渐的，两人之间产生了羁绊。。In 1966, a famous actor (Peter O'Toole) is taken by a rowboat to a fabulous old hotel on an island in the middle of a lake.
