民国十三年，雁城有个打更人，名叫胡樊。打更人是个神秘而古老的职业，除了巡夜报时的工作外，还负责处理在深夜出没的邪祟之物。近日，雁城频频发生凶杀案和失踪案，警察署束手无策，于是去找民间懂法术的胡樊来出马相助，胡樊等人顺着线索一路追踪，发现光天化日之下竟有人在杀人献祭以达到续命的目的……。The story opens in Balochistan, in a small, scarcely ‘wired’ village bordering Iran and Afghanistan.
