本片为申江于1972年自编自导的战国时代历史武侠片。故事描述，公元前二五七年，秦国图并吞六国，秦昭王发兵攻赵国。魏、赵为邻国，倘赵被攻破，魏自难保全，但魏王怕秦，按兵不动。后太傅被杀，魏王纳其女如姬（夏凡）为妃，答应代其复仇。信陵君（宗华）门客朱亥（张斌）为救国，乘机代姬报父仇，以请姬盗魏王身上的兵符令牌，发兵却秦救赵……。During the seed harvest season in Ban Rabue Village, Ngern is responsible for collecting and storing seeds for the upcoming year. Unfortunately, a group of black-faced thieves attempt to steal the seeds, and Ngern unintentionally kills them. Wanting to avoid any trouble, Ngern, along with his two friends, sets out to find guns and bring them back to protect the village.。剧中以居住在北京的三家人为主要发展：代表殷实中坚份子的姚思远一家、代表清流的曾文璞一家、代表腐败的牛思道一家。于此大时代动荡之际，三家人见证了中国人从封建到民主的过程，个人或被时代洪流吞没、或与时代俱进成就个人修为，当时移境迁，蓦然回首，方觉悟近四十年一场京华梦，不过浮云苍狗和过眼烟云，真正留驻心中的还是亘古不变的人间之爱。。
