李翠芬（胡蝶 饰）的姐夫被抢劫者所害，一家人顿时断掉生活来源。在邻居杨小姐的介绍下，翠芬进入培德百货公司包扎部谋职。她的清纯美丽很快便引起上司林监督（王献斋 饰）的注意，林利用职权将翠芬调入脂粉柜台，并对其纠缠不休。另一方面，翠芬的到来夺去脂粉柜台女营业员姚雪芳（严月娴 饰）“脂粉皇后”的头衔，遂引起雪芳嫉恨。在一次争吵中，雪芳的情人——百货公司花花公子张有济（孙敏 饰）为翠芬的美丽所倾倒，自此调转枪头，向翠芬展开攻势。 无耻的上司、放荡的女同事以及轻薄的花花公子，这一切都让翠芬倍感疲惫和愤慨。在旧社会里，似乎女人只能成为男人的附庸，通过卖笑来博去上位……。Monk and his friends arrive in New York to locate the man whom they were told has information about Trudy's murder.
