The on-screen narrator walks through three-dimensional reproductions of each painting, featuring real people, sometimes moving, in an effort to explain the series' significance.。阿贵是村里戏班子的台柱了，与其搭档银翠整日陶醉在戏中，互相倾慕。外出打工发了财的王大树回乡招工，发现女友银翠与阿贵感情日笃，毅然将银翠带走了。阿贵也因唱倒了嗓子，日渐消沉。但山村里欣欣向荣的情景和年轻人的美满爱情，打动了阿贵的心，在村民热情的帮助下，阿贵重新树立起了生活的信念。。
