《厨房里有哲学家》姊妹篇，又四位厨师的故事。主攻云南植物料理的张纭嘉，藏族面包师巴桑次仁，中西合璧的台湾甜品师，当代艺术家兼餐厅主理人谢帆。。本片根据Ronald Harwood的同名戏剧改编，Anthony Hopkins扮演一名年迈多病的演员，Ian McKellen扮演对他忠心耿耿的幕后助手兼化妆师Norman。故事发生在第二次世界大战期间。据称该剧的原型人物就是Ronald Harwood本人——他曾是著名英国演员Donald Wolfit爵士的化妆师。。Follow a year in the life of the forest, told through the eyes of its most iconic inhabitants: New Forest Pony spring foal, a pair of rare goshawks nesting in the ancient woods and a fallow red deer stag.。
