A lone man with the Christmas Spirit trapped in his head must kidnap a teenage girl in order to save Christmas.。二十年前，和善可亲的川岛春（吉永小百合 饰）与丈夫行夫（柴田恭兵 饰）来到位于北海道一座寒冷的孤岛。春成为当地小学仅有的六名学生的老师，并发掘了他们的歌唱才华。然而一场意外夺去行夫的生命，之后受到村民指摘的春黯然离开小岛。时间回到当下，刚刚退休不久的春迎来两位刑警的造访，进而得之当年的六名少年中的一人——铃木信人（森山未来 饰）卷入一起杀人事件。抱持着心中种种疑问，春返回阔别已久的小岛，并先后走访户田真奈美（满岛光 饰）、生岛直树（胜地凉 饰）、安藤结花（宫崎葵 饰）、藤本七重（小池荣子 饰）、松田勇（松田龙平 饰）等学生，当年的事件在他们心中留下难以磨灭的阴影，而此次重逢能否打开师生各自的心结？ 本片根据凑佳苗的短篇集《往返书信（往復書簡）》中的《二十年后的作业（二十年後の宿題）》改编。。A psychological drama taking place during a day and a night in the life of a young family living in a beautiful house by the sea in the village of Sandur in the Faroe Islands.
