本片以喜剧恶搞的形式展现古朴小镇发生的一系列搞笑故事。电影讲述一名时髦、爽朗的女孩逃家出走，误闯到一个安静古朴的小镇，和刚刚回乡的客栈店主等乡民一个，与来征地的房地产老板做斗争。。故事发生在奥地利维也纳，丘托克（阿道夫·门吉欧 Adolphe Menjou 饰）虽然迎娶了年轻美貌的妻子米琪（玛丽·普雷沃斯特 Marie Prevost 饰），但他的婚姻生活却并不幸福，因为米琪是一个水性杨花的女人，结婚没多久就移情别恋了。米琪喜欢的是自己的好友夏洛特（Florence Vidor 饰）的丈夫弗兰茨（蒙蒂·布卢 Monte Blue 饰），对他百般引诱，而丘托克决定将此作为提出离婚的绝佳契机，于是雇佣了私家侦探（哈利·迈耶斯 Harry Myers 饰）想要得到米琪出轨的证据。 夏洛特当然明白米琪的狼子野心，于是对她处处提防，而因为米琪的介入，她和弗兰茨之间的感情也渐渐出现了裂痕。终于，在一次激烈的争吵后，弗兰茨选择了离家出走。。When F.B.I.
