We also see the conspiracy of Sejanus, the infamous reign of Caligula, and Claudiu...。世家子弟樊家树（陈振华饰）先后认识了街头卖武的关秀姑（欧嘉慧饰）和卖唱姑娘沈凤喜（李司棋饰）两位红颜知己，家里获悉后极力反对。树对喜情有独钟，并暗中资助喜的学业。 不久，喜被军阀刘德柱强行霸占。喜失身后愧对树，决定做刘的姨太太。树误认为其移情别恋，遂转追求秀姑，无奈秀姑始终无法接受这段感情。 千金小姐何丽娜（李司棋饰）酷似喜，本想戏弄树一番，却阴差阳错地爱上了树，但树不为所动，娜一气之下，假装与青年军官沈国英相好，却惹来对方的苦苦纠缠。于是，这帮青年男女便陷入了剪不清理还乱的三角关系中……。姐夫的背叛和情妇冒名顶替，最终都得到了应有的报应和法律的制裁，告诫观众，做人应当忠于内心忠于感情，作事更应当脚踏实地，否则一切都是空中楼阁一触即溃。
